During my first few years in this industry, I made a concerted effort to participate in the training
programs my company offered, but also to spend time with the most senior installers and the
repair department managers. I rode with several installers, to learn exactly how the systems
were installed and to watch them discover the workings of an existing system that was being
removed or modified. I learned what pieces of equipment were effective, which ones had a
tendency to have problems, and how to deal with older homes and existing systems.
This website is a compilation of what I've learned, through study and experience, about home
security practices and home security systems.
I am employed by one of the top-tier security system makers in Atlanta, Georgia, but I have
purposely omitted any mention of my company, because this site is not intended to sell a
particular company or security system.
In my day-to-day involvement with clients, my goal is to cover each and every home as
completely as possible with as little equipment as possible. Every situation is different, so a
single "package" is almost never the right equipment for the job. I take the time to understand
the family, the home, and the security objectives for the system, and I apply my extensive
knowledge of our products to meet those objectives.
The systems we offer are not proprietary, carry a one-year warranty (minimum) on parts, and do
not require a long-term contract. Our monitoring rate is $18.95 and does not increase if you
add medical alert, duress or fire protection.
